need help plz answer?

ok, i have a mac computer. i know windows has preferences and control pad to change the mouse apperance to look like various things change the backrounds etc.. i know how to change the backrounds/ screen savers but is their more? and on my mac it is not based out like the windows computers. can i still personalize it in the ways windows can??? or anything close?? PLZ HELP!!!!
